After Jim Carrey opens up the 2011 run of "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, Gwyneth Paltrow will take over hosting duties on January 15, NBC announced on Tuesday (January 4).
The appearance will mark the Oscar-winning actress' third time hosting "SNL" and comes as she's promoting her musical drama, "Country Strong," which expands into a wide release this Friday. Paltrow will be joined by musical guest Cee Lo, whose hit single, "F--- You," she covered to wide acclaim on "Glee" last year.
"I really am just flattered ... that not only 'Glee' [covered it], but it was Gwyneth [singing]," Cee Lo told MTV News last November. "I didn't realize when we first did the clearances for it. I just thought that maybe it would be sung by the cast, but [it] turns out to be her. I'm like, 'That's just, that's too awesome.' "
Paltrow has put her musical talents front and center in recent months. In addition to "Country Strong" and her turn on "Glee" (where she also performed a mash-up of Rihanna's "Umbrella" and "Singin' in the Rain"), the actress performed at the Country Music Awards in November and has already booked a return trip to "Glee." She's even discussed the possibility of making an entire country album.
"I think if I was going to make a country record, it would be like a super-bare, kind of stripped-back kind of country," Paltrow told MTV News. "Like a little bit of bluegrass-influenced kind of thing."
