Health professionals have thrown their weight behind the Federal Government?s initiative to ban brand
packaging of cigarettes -- the first of its kind in the world.
But the
tobacco industry has vowed legal action against the plan that would make all packs a generic olive green. The legislative changes would ensure 75 percent of the front and most of the
back of cigarette packets were covered in health warnings.
The Health Minister, Nicola Roxon, told the ABC she wants the new laws in place by 2012.
"This world first is a step we're taking after a lot
