'Twilight,' Justin Bieber Rule MTV Movie Awards

Sneak peeks from 'Breaking Dawn' and 'Deathly Hallows' make a splash at the big show.By Gil Kaufman

Hollywood may have just found the ultimate killer mega-sequel on Sunday night (June 5) when "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" ran the table at the MTV Movie Awards, taking home five big ones, including Best Movie and Best Female and Male performance wins for stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Not too shabby for a bunch of undead vampires, buff werewolves and the lady who loves them.
In the process, the kids from rainy Forks, Washington, nearly blanked the also multiply-nominated cast of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1," surely giving someone in Hollywood a great idea to stage the ultimate fan-freakout-fantasy-world showdown once the two series wrap up.

In the meantime, fans made do with lots of Pattinson and Stewart on Sunday night, along with generous helpings of Taylor Lautner and more Arnold Schwarzenegger illegitimate-kid jokes than anyone imagined from host Jason Sudeikis.
With a set that looked like a backlot fantasia, with a ring of fake grass, crystal towers, caves, butterflies, LED lights and glittery, hanging jewels, the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre was a nod to the "Lord of the Rings" and the fantasy world of movies.
And with their hands all over each other, "Friends with Benefits" co-stars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake proudly handed out the night's first award, Best Male Performance, to "Twilight" star Pattinson, who beat out love-triangle rival Lautner for the honor. "I really didn't think I was going to win," said the perpetually self-effacing undead star, who got a smile but no congratulatory, well, anything, from co-star Stewart. "This is kind of embarrassing now. Zac Efron was crying and stuff in that clip. ... Thanks for showing all your support to the movies. See you next year!"
Check out photos of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and other "Twilight" stars at this year's big show!
Was there any doubt whether Tom Felton would take home the Best Villain award for his truly terrifying performance of blond baddie Draco Malfoy in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1"? Flashing an uncharacteristic smile, the nice English lad said, "This will look very nice in my downstairs toilet," thanking fans for a decade of support and promising that the final installment will be worth the wait.
Poo Cocktail Supreme, a sawed-off arm, the world literally exploding all around you and the cuticle from hell: All worthy nominees, but it was Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" 3-D concert film that took the Best Jaw Dropping Moment prize. Though it looked like the Biebs wouldn't be on hand to take home the honor, he made a surprise appearance and thanked his director, manager and family. "But most of all I want to thank my fans. I love you," said Bieber, sporting white jeans and a blue blazer over a black T-shirt.
It wasn't all just movie magic, though. Funnyman Jim Carrey promised to bring some high-tech shenanigans to the proceedings, and he didn't disappoint. The "Mr. Popper's Penguins" star showed up in a green-screen suit that featured a number of high-tech images, but mostly just dogs humping. He was on hand to introduce the Foo Fighters, who lit the stage up with a blistering performance of their new single "Walk," with a set that included six strobing movie-set klieg lights.
Alas, Potter's Death Eaters had nothing on Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel's showdown with Pattinson in "Eclipse," which also won for Best Fight. Pattinson bragged about winning the filmed fight, even as Howard apologized for trying to hurt him. "It's fine. I ripped your head off ... and now you're pregnant!" he said awkwardly, as Stewart cradled her face in her hands in embarrassment at his crack about their co-star's bulging baby belly.
You kind of couldn't go wrong with the Best Kiss category, especially if you're on Team Edward. But really? Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman didn't snag the traditionally Sapphic-friendly smooch trophy? Nope, not when RPattz and KStew are in the mix. Taking the stage for the third time, Pattinson sheepishly said he felt bad because he, well, didn't really feel like re-creating his smooch with Stewart from "Eclipse."
"You don't want to kiss me, do you?" he said to Stewart. "Well, I mean, it's been a long time, and ... I think we should finally go for it," she replied nervously, as the camera cut to a totally psyched Selena Gomez. "There's someone else in the audience I think will appreciate it a little more," Pattinson answered, before sprinting out to the crowd and laying a big, wet one on Lautner's mouth, forehead and hand. When he tried to snag the award from Stewart's hands, she grabbed it away and he grunted, "I wanna take you backstage!" in what amounts to PDA for these two.
Luckily for the nominees in the Best Line from a Movie category, there were no quotable muggles or vampires in the mix, so you can be sure 7-year-old "Grown Ups" star Alexys Nycole Sanchez was going to celebrate her win later that night by getting totally "chocolate wasted."
This is so cool!" squeaked the adorable moppet before reprising her money line.
The ladies in the Best Female Performance race were not so lucky, as Stewart beat out the Emmas (Stone and Watson), Jennifer Aniston and "Black Swan" star Portman. The publicity-shy actress, wearing a red leather minidress festooned with safety pins, said, "Oh, man, this is silly. It feels very incredible to be so completely supported by everybody that voted for me, it actually really, truly does. Thank you. We have obviously the greatest fans ever."
The luminous Reese Witherspoon was presented with this year's MTV Generation Award, preceded by her "Water for Elephants" co-star Pattinson, giving a touching, and quite salty, tribute to the actress, who's been his movie mother and lover.
"I'm just so lucky in my career and my life," said Witherspoon, who kindly corrected the punch line to one of Pattinson's most off-color jokes, while praising her chemistry with "Sweet Home Alabama" co-star Patrick Dempsey. "I just want to say to all the girls out there: I know it's cool to be bad, I get it ... but it's also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show ... so for all the girls out there, it's possible to be a good girl."

'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' Trailer: An Expert Analysis

We break down the first sneak peek of Tom Cruise's fourth 'Mission.'By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler

Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol"

Photo: Paramount

The first "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" trailer begins in classic fashion for this epic spy franchise: with a ridiculously destructive explosion. It's been almost six years, after all, since the previous installment hit theaters, and so this new footage, which popped up online Tuesday evening, delivers the fiery goods early and often.

Hit play on the embedded video as we walk through some of the key moments in the trailer, then read on for a deeper exploration of what's going on in the "Ghost Protocol" footage.
The J.J. Abrams Conspiracy
Early on, as Tom Wilkinson explains the unachievable mission Tom Cruise and his team will confront, we see Wilkinson flip through a series of digital profiles of the IMF agents. Josh Holloway's character, it seems, is "disavowed."
Now if you're a fan of the franchise, you'll remember that in the third film, Keri Russell (a veteran of producer J.J. Abrams' "Felicity") is killed surprisingly early in the action. Our working theory is that we're in for a similar treat for Holloway, who starred in Abrams' "Lost." We don't see a lot of him in the rest of the trailer, and when you do see him, he's usually alone. All signs point to Holloway getting an unfortunate, and quite possibly bloody, exit in "Ghost Protocol."
The Brad Bird Comparison
Midway through the trailer, we get a moment that clearly harkens back to the first "M:I" movie. As Jeremy Renner flies down into a silo-like structure and the camera follows him from above, we can't help but think of the moment in the original film in which Cruise, secured via harness, swooped down into a secure CIA facility.
While J.J. Abrams has told us "Ghost Protocol" will carry the unmistakable signature of director Brad Bird, who is making his live-action debut after animated fare like "The Incredibles," it's hard to see any Birdian touches here. This looks like a "Mission" movie, not a Brad Bird one. And we wonder if, in the finished film, that will still be the case. One of Bird's signature stylistic traits is action (and interactions) infused with humor, and "M:I" is hardly a franchise that goes for laughs.
The Tom Cruise Marathon
It would not be a Tom Cruise movie, let alone a "Mission" movie, without a shot of the action star running like the wind. There's a hilarious YouTube video about this, which is definitely worth watching. But all jokes aside, let's give Cruise some serious credit: We tend to take him for granted, but the guy is almost 50 years old, and here he's running, jumping, diving and nearly dying. That's impressive stuff.
The Jeremy Renner Possibility
Renner, of "Hurt Locker" fame, is a new face in the franchise; last year, he told MTV News he was being groomed to take over the franchise from Cruise. But that's not at all the sense we get from the trailer, especially when Cruise suggests Renner is hiding something. First off, Renner is reportedly the front-runner to take over the "Bourne" franchise from Matt Damon, and it'd be odd to have the guy be the face of two separate spy series. And second, based on some of the dialogue in the trailer, there just might be a twist with Renner's character in "Ghost Protocol." Is he a villain? Is the trailer just trying to throw us for a loop? Can we possibly have a "Mission" movie in the future that doesn't feature Cruise himself?
The IMAX Grandeur
The trailer wraps up with an epic scene in which Tom Cruise scales the Burj Khalifa building in Dubai, the tallest building in the world. This scene is compelling for two reasons. One, it was shot with IMAX cameras, and for all the technical mumbo-jumbo you can get into when talking about this technology, the fact is that watching something shot in IMAX delivers a singularly breathtaking visual scope. "Ghost Protocol" will be worth seeing in an IMAX theater just for this scene. And second, Cruise clearly stole the gloves he wore in "Minority Report" to scale this building, "Spider-Man"-style. Hey, can you blame a guy for trying to sneak a swarm of blockbusters into one film?
Check out everything we've got on "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

Lady Gaga To Premiere 'Edge Of Glory' Video On 'So You Think You Can Dance'

Singer is also set to appear as guest judge on show later in season.By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Sabrina Rojas Weiss

Lady Gaga is ready to take fans to the "Edge of Glory." The singer confirmed that she will debut the music video for the clip on Thursday on "So You Think You Can Dance." Little is known about the Joseph Kahn-directed clip, but all will be revealed in good time, it seems.

The news comes just as executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe announced he was getting Gaga to join celebrity judges like will.i.am on the show this season.
"Yes, I asked her when she performed on the 'American Idol' finale if she would come on, and she said yes," Lythgoe . "She is on tour so they said it would probably be later in the season. She is an amazing dancer and performer."
He tossed around a few other names of celebs who might be guest judges, including Neil Patrick Harris, Kristin Chenoweth, Ellen DeGeneres and Megan Mullally. "We have a lot of people who want to help the kids become unique. The biggest thing is standing out from the crowd," he said. "The kids have to find something that makes them unique and these performers know how to do that."
When Lythgoe and judge Mary Murphy sat down with MTV News recently, they said they wanted to make sure that celebs who come on the show are the right fit.
"I think [celebrity judges] make it exciting for sure," Murphy said.
"I'll never forget when Ellen sat next to me. But it made it a little bit difficult for me because I think she's so funny. ... Then I had to focus."
Lythgoe added that his wish is to have celebrity judges who aren't just famous faces but who know about dancing. "The sad thing for me is when some celebrity judges come on, they just want to be liked, so they're not going to give a good critique," he said. "Just 'you were wonderful, you were wonderful.' ... Then again there's a whole raft of judges, particularly in dance — Shirley MacLaine, Mitzi Gaynor, Debbie Reynolds — that could be called upon to judge, that have been there, done it through the '40s and '50s that are stunning, were stunning dancers.
"I'm going to be talking to Fox about it, but I know in my heart that Fox will say, 'Well, we don't really know them, can you get Lady Gaga?'
... She was excellent on 'Idol,' " he added. "A little naughty!"

The central Bangkok food court experience

Clean, air-conditioned and swarmed by Bangkokians, the Thai capital?s indoor food courts provide some of
the city?s more underrated dining experiences. With anywhere from 15 to 50
different stands serving a variety of cuisine from around Asia, and with most
plates priced at 75 baht or less, these are great spots for a quick, tasty,
authentic lunch.

One of the
city?s best and most densely concentrated food-court hopping areas is the
madhouse commercial center of Siam Square, Pathumwan and Pratunam: here are
five worth checking out.

'Transformers' Stars Talk Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Vs. Megan Fox

'Rosie is going to surprise a lot of people,' 'Dark of the Moon' co-star Tyrese Gibson tells MTV News.By Kara Warner

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"

Photo: Paramount Pictures

Much ado has been made about the upcoming "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." From casting to the story line to the 3-D, it seems nothing about the filmmaking process on the third installment of the franchise has gone unnoticed. Thankfully, with the film's June 29 release date quickly approaching, the castmembers have not only been out promoting the movie, but also dispelling some of the anxiety and nitpicking that has surfaced on the Interwebs.

Regarding the casting, specifically the addition of Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley after the departure of former "Transformers" "It" girl Megan Fox, the action flick's male stars expressed nothing but love and admiration for the first-time actress.
"Rosie is going to surprise a lot of people," Tyrese Gibson told MTV News recently. "I have to go on record and say that she did not replace Megan Fox. She's a brand-new character; her name is Carly in the movie," he explained. "Her name is not Mikaela, it's Carly," he reiterated, referring to Fox's character in the previous installments. "She's going to surprise a lot of people with her focus and energy that she's bringing to the franchise.
"She was very focused, very classy, very easy to work with," he continued. "I was really glad she came aboard."
Shia LaBeouf said that while Megan Fox seemed a bit overwhelmed by all of the sudden attention she received post-"Transformers," Huntington-Whiteley, with her experience as a swimsuit and underwear model, came to the set fully prepared for what would be required of her in the summer blockbuster.
"She completely owns her sexuality, which I think helps especially on a movie like this where it's a blanket summer movie and there are certain requirements of a woman in a summer movie," LaBeouf explained. "She owns her sexuality and she doesn't shy from it. I think it was a harder gap to cross, in terms of Megan going from complete obscurity to being the sexiest woman in the world in a movie. [It] is a greater leap and transition than to go from being a Victoria's Secret model to then being the hottest actress in the world," he added. "It's an easier transition because she already had that in her pocket when she came to set. She was able to be strong in her femininity as opposed to trying to shy away from it.
"[That attitude] helps everything," he continued. "Especially with Mike [Bay] where conversations are blunt and they lack tact, and you're in the middle of a firefight so it's bare essentials. "
Do you think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was a good choice to succeed Megan Fox? Tell us in the comments!

'The Hobbit': First-Look Photos Of Bilbo, Gandalf Hit Net

Martin Freeman's eagerly anticipated prequel Bilbo Baggins turns up in character, complete with hairy feet and pointy ears.By Eric Ditzian

Martin Freeman in "The Hobbit"

Photo: New Line Cinema via Entertainment Weekly

Although he's busy once again creating a Middle Earth-like world in the wilds of New Zealand, "Hobbit" director Peter Jackson has done an excellent job keeping fans of J. R. R. Tolkien's fantastical creations looped into the production. He's been posting photos, videos and updates on his Facebook page for months — including a few pics of himself in what appears to be Bilbo Baggins' home.

But what we haven't seen until now are official photos of the stars in character and on set. That's all changing, thanks to three pics posted by Entertainment Weekly. One image features Martin Freeman as Bilbo, another focuses on Ian McKellan as Gandalf, and the last captures both Freeman and Jackson in that familiar home.
The first photo is the one fans have been waiting years to see: a real-life representation of Bilbo himself. After all the production delays, the speculation and the rumors about the casting of the central character (James McAvoy? Daniel Radcliffe?), we finally are getting a look at Freeman (perhaps best known from the British version of "The Office") in character, complete with hairy feet, pointy ears and shaggy hair.
''He fits the ears and he's got some very nice feet,'' Jackson told EW about Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo. ''I think he's got the biggest hobbit feet we've had so far. They're a little bit hard to walk in, but he's managed to figure out the perfect hobbit gait.''
The second pic captures, in Gandalf, someone we're very familiar with from the "Lord of the Rings" series but who will be surrounded by a new cast of characters in this prequel story, the first part of which hits theaters in December 2012.
''He's in fantastic form,'' Jackson said of McKellan. ''In a way, his role in 'The Hobbit' has more technical difficulties than 'Lord of the Rings' did, because he has scenes with 14 smaller characters — obviously the dwarves and the hobbit are shorter. ... I remember saying to him [laughs], 'Look, this isn't "Waiting for Godot" or "King Lear." This is "The Hobbit." This is the real thing. ' "
The final photo takes us inside an on-set conversation with Jackson and Freeman, one of roughly a zillion the two are likely to have, considering how long the shoot will last. ''There's no way you can pace yourself for shoots like these,'' the director said. ''When we were going through the schedule for 'The Hobbit,' I felt a terrible drop in my stomach when I saw that we'd be shooting for 254 days. We're only 12 days short of 'The Lord of the Rings,' even though we're only doing two movies. When I saw that, I had to sort of pick myself up off the floor and carry on."
Tell us what you think of the new "Hobbit" photos in the comments section!

Like a hole in the head: The fundamental incomprehensibility of Thai politics

The Thai general election is upon us, but if you?ve come here expecting a handy, cut-out-and-keep guide to what?s going on, I?m afraid you?ll be disappointed. The nice people at the Bangkok Post have provided a "Dummy?s Guide" to the poll (see below), which is lovely as far as the rules and mechanisms goes, and even suggests the potential make-up of any government coalitions once the votes have been totted up. But this doesn?t offer the interested observer any idea on what makes the politicians tick, or how people decide how to vote.

Ke$ha Wants 'Till The World Ends' Remix To 'Take Over Airwaves'

Singer says her collaboration with Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj made a 'supergroup of three hot, strong women.'By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias

Ke$ha

Photo: MTV News

Earlier this week, Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj dropped their femme-fatale-friendly remix of the Spears club track "Till the World Ends." The already fun song got super-charged thanks to Minaj's cutting verses and Ke$ha's recognizable vocals.
"I'm a massive fan of both the ladies I share the track with," K told MTV News on Wednesday at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards. "I wrote 'TTWE' for Britney with [producers] Dr. Luke and Max [Martin] and she killed it and I loved it, but I just thought a supergroup of three hot, strong women could just take over the airwaves."

Ke$ha went on to give props to both the ladies. "I'm such a massive fan of Britney and I'm such a massive supporter of Nicki and a fan, and chicks sometimes don't team up. I don't know why, but I'm, like, huge on the girl power, so I just wanted to make a power girl track take over."

The remix quickly won praise from fans who seem to think the new features step up the song's game. "You know, with the three of us, I wasn't necessarily surprised [people like it] because I'm such a massive fan of Nicki Minaj and obviously with Britney I'm a fan of it, [taking] myself out of the equation," she said. "I'm just happy people like it."

So did Ke$ha (who once sang backup for Spears) feel any pressure writing a song for Britney? "There was no pressure. Writing for somebody else is really fun 'cause I consider myself a songwriter first and foremost," she explained. "So it was so much fun to put my brain in the sexy Britney Spears brain and express myself almost as if I were possessed by her."

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year

Raising Sand, from Led Zeppelin vet and bluegrass superstar, wins five Grammys on Sunday night.By James Montgomery with MTV News staff

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant accept the award for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday

"I'm bewildered," Robert Plant said onstage as he accepted the Grammy Album of the Year award with Alison Krauss on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."
He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect Grammy album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.
You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.
Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released.
And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.
And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.
To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album.
"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards."

Gym Class Heroes Get Shady In 'Stereo Hearts' Video

First single from the group's The Papercut Chronicles II album features vocals by Maroon 5's Adam Levine.By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias

Gym Class Heroes don't exactly have a lot to do in the video for "Stereo Hearts," the first single from their upcoming The Papercut Chronicles II. Instead, it's their shadows that handle most of the heavy lifting.

"The video basically plays on the idea that we're sort of just being casual, hanging out, being ourselves and our shadows get wild and get loose," drummer Matt McGinley told MTV News on the video set. "It's kind of fun. I've always felt like my shadow has been trying to kill me for 28 years."
"That's just me," frontman Travie McCoy laughed, "creeping up on your ass."
So while the GCH guys were content to crack jokes and let their shadows have the spotlight on the "Stereo" set, they're taking the opposite approach when it comes to their new album. Because not only is it a sequel to their beloved 2005 album, it's their return to prominence after McCoy's Lazarus solo trek and a break that was, by all accounts, too long.
"We just played a show at the Nokia in L.A., and just to see how elated kids were that we were back together again, I almost cried, I'm not going to lie," McCoy said. "We've been away too long, and anyone who thought me putting out Lazarus was the end of Gym Class Heroes was definitely proven wrong with that show."
And with "Stereo Hearts," they're officially getting back to business. Produced by Bennie Blanco and featuring Maroon 5's Adam Levine on the hook, it's a prime-time slab of genre-mashing, sweat-inducing pop, the kind of song that may very well push GCH to summertime superstardom. And, in working with Levine, they've learned about taking the next step too.
"It's a fun love song at the end of the day, and it's definitely got a summertime vibe ... and having Adam bless us with his vocal stylings doesn't hurt much," McCoy said. "He just destroyed it. Watching that dude do [vocal] runs, and first he belts out the hook, and I'm like, 'OK!' then he does overdubs and he's like, 'Nah, I don't like that, I can do better.' Everything's just flawless and dude's so talented. Just getting into a song and pushing it, it was inspiring."

5 historic Singapore restaurants

Singapore diners have seen a fair share of boom and busts.

But a clutch of restaurants has quietly endured the cycles. Through good times and bad, they continue to dish out their signature plates to the baby boomers and their children -- and grand children.

While a handful, such as Shashlik and Pete?s Place, have retained their old-school ambiance, others, like Gordon Grill and Ristorante Bologna, have spruced up their menus and interior to keep abreast of the times.

Audrina Patridge, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert Share Prom Memories

'Me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m.,' Ke$ha tells MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena

Audrina Patridge

It's prom season, and that means high schoolers across this great land will be renting tuxes, buying fancy dresses and negotiating the details of their curfews with parents. So, before you take your pictures and get in your limos, we asked some Hollywood A-listers to recall their fondest prom memories.
"I had a great prom," Ne-Yo told MTV News. "I didn't get to go with who I wanted to go with. I got my second choice, but my second choice turned out to be the one I was supposed to be there with, so it turned out good."

Ke$ha, never one to say no to a party, had the best night of all her friends. "I went to prom with my gay best friend, and let me tell you, I had way more fun than anybody else at a prom with their boyfriends," she recalled. "Everybody else was, like, crying and drama and breaking up, and me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m."
"Hellcats" star Aly Michalka doesn't have a favorite prom memory — because she never went to prom. "I was homeschooled, so I don't even think we had a fake prom," she lamented. "Like, maybe we had a home-school prom and I wasn't invited?"
While everything always seems to be in peril on "The Vampire Diaries," star Nina Dobrev had a less tumultuous night: "Having everyone get together and such a final celebration [is what I remember]."
Romeo went big for his prom. "My senior prom, I remember I pulled up in my red Ferrari. I was feeling like James Bond," he said. "And it was one of the best nights of my life."
"My favorite prom memory was probably going shopping for a dress, and our boyfriends at the time dressed up as 'Dumb & Dumber,' " Audrina Patridge laughed. "And so we were like, 'We can't dress up dorky ... we have to look good.' "
Roots drummer ?uestlove made a big decision on the night of his prom: "June 2, 1989, was my very last haircut; prom haircut, totally butchered my hair. He butchered my hair, and I vowed never again to ever get in a barber chair, so I grew that Afro on my prom night."
Adam Lambert said his prom date was a 10, so he definitely had a fun night. "I had a great prom. I had an awesome time," he said. "I went with one of my best friends in high school. Her name was Lauren, and she was really hot. She wore a really hot red dress, so I felt like I had arm candy."
Share your prom memories in the comments below!

New Led Zeppelin On The Way? Jason Bonham Hints At 'Jam' Sessions With Jimmy Page -- But Not Robert Plant

Drummer admits he doesn't know what will come of 'new material.'By Chris Harris

Jason Bonham

Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images

On Friday morning, mere hours before he was due to take the stage with classic rockers Foreigner at Detroit's GM Renaissance Center, drummer Jason Bonham — the son of late Led Zeppelin kitman John Bonham — told Jim Johnson and Lynne Woodison of local rock station 94.7 WCSX that he'd be an ex-member of Foreigner as of September 1. But that's not the only thing he said.
Much to the delight of Led Zeppelin fans everywhere, Bonham revealed that he's been meeting up with Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones in recent months and that they've been "trying to do some new material and writing."
It was the first time since Led Zeppelin announced they would re-form for a single performance (which happened late last year at London's O2 Arena, in honor of the late Ahmet Ertegün, who signed the band to Atlantic Records in 1969) that anyone connected to the band has confirmed publicly that new music could be on the horizon for the iconic rockers. While the bandmembers have stopped short of definitively ruling out such a reunion, singer Robert Plant insisted in the wake of last year's show that he intended to focus on promoting and touring behind his critically lauded album with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss, Raising Sand.
Not that Bonham knows what — if anything — will happen with the new material he's been working on with Page (who collaborated with pop singer Leona Lewis on an uneven version of Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" at the Olympic closing ceremonies in Beijing on Sunday night) and Jones. He said he just shows up and takes his seat behind the kit.
"I've been over [to England] a couple of times," Bonham said. "I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying to do ... some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there, I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It's my life. It's what I've dreamed about doing."
He said it's still too early to tell what will become of these "jam" sessions, but admitted that the "possibility of doing something is in the cards. I really felt it was in the cards from the moment we walked offstage at the O2." Bonham also explained that, before there could be a Led Zep LP, "lots of politics [would need to] get ironed out," but added that recording with Zep is "something I've always wanted to do."
Bonham noticeably didn't mention frontman Plant's name during the discussion. A spokesperson for Page's management had no comment on the matter, and a spokesperson for Jones' management could not be reached by press time.

'Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark': The Reviews Are In!

Despite some positive reviews, epically troubled musical remains as divisive as ever.By Eric Ditzian

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark

Photo: Don Emmert/ AFP

We're as surprised as anyone that the folks behind have been able to transform their epically troubled musical into a satisfying piece of Broadway entertainment. In January, as news of the show's creative and safety issues turned the then $65 million production into one of the Great White Way's most spectacular disasters, we admitted that while there were some enjoyable aspects, you were better off popping in a DVD of a Tobey Maguire "Spider-Man" flick than trekking to New York to see the musical.

What a difference a few months — and a new creative team — makes. Out went Julie Taymor, in came writers like comics vet Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and the results are just what the web-slinging wonderboy needed. We're not the only ones who feel that way. As "Turn Off the Dark" officially left its preview phase behind and opened on Tuesday, reviews have been pouring in, and many have been positive. Not all, mind you — not even close.
Unsurprisingly, "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" remains as divisive as ever. Here's what the critics have to say.
The Overall Changes
"[It] has deteriorated from mindblowingly misbegotten carnival-of-the-damned to merely embarrassing dud. Awash in a garbage-gyre of expository dialogue pumped in by script doctor/comic-book vet Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, its lavish stage pictures turned to colloidal mush by director Philip William McKinley and choreographer Chase Brock, Spidey 2.0 is indeed leaner and more linear, and its story has been brutally clarified: It's now all too clear how very, very little was there in the first place. Spider-Man violates the first rule of pop fantasy: Never lose the distinction between beautiful simplicity and rank simplemindedness." — Scott Brown, New York
The New Music
"Composer/lyricists Bono and the Edge have added one campy number, Goblin's 'A Freak Like Me,' but the most memorable songs offer the same emotional and melodic sweep that distinguishes their work in U2. It's right after one such tune, the soaring ballad 'Rise Above,' that Spider-Man first appears. As distinctly Edge-like guitars chime, dancers costumed as the superhero leap about like giddy children discovering a new trick. At such moments, Spider-Man doesn't need technology or gadgetry to take flight." — Elysa Gardner, USA Today
The Performances
"In the title role Reeve Carney is an appropriately nonthreatening crush object for tweens, an appealingly agitated Everydweeb with great cheekbones and a sanitized, lite version of a concert rocker's voice.
He is well paired with the wryly sincere Jennifer Damiano ('Next to
Normal') as Mary Jane Watson, Peter's girlfriend. Ms. Carpio's Arachne (now a beneficent fairy godmother rather than an erotically troubling dream spider) provides the most arresting vocal moments with her ululating nasality. Michael Mulheren is suitably blustery and fatuous as the pandering newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson. And Patrick Page, as the megalomaniacal scientist who becomes the evil mutant called the Green Goblin, provides the one reason for adults unaccompanied by minors to see the show." —Ben Brantley, The New York Times
The Action
"[T]here are plenty of breathtaking moments, beginning with the opening scene in which Peter gives a class presentation on the myth of the spider goddess Arachne, played by T.V. Carpio in a role that was reduced by at least half in the new production. As Peter narrates the story of Arachne's legendary weaving skills, six actresses hang across the stage on massive gold ribbon swings, swaying up and downstage as horizontal ribbons fall, creating a striking human loom. During the climactic fight scene atop the Chrysler Building, the set is built from a roof's-eye perspective, with a hypnotic view straight down the skyscraper's side to the cab-lined street far below." — Evie Nagy, Rolling Stone
The Final Word
" 'Spider-Man' threatened to go down in history as one of Broadway's biggest flops. While it probably won't become one of the street's greatest smashes, it's now a fun family show that will entertain fans of both superheroes and showstoppers. Was it worth the wait? For this combination fanboy and show queen, definitely." — David Sheward, Back Stage

Pet Tags

Man, I'm so irritated.
I just received four pets tags that I ordered for Bev and Mary Margaret (two for Brooklyn and two for LA) and they're all messed up. Not only did they leave off the "Margaret" on Mary Margaret's tags, but the text isn't centered correctly and runs off the right side on all four of them. (The last letter of the address is cut in half.) The tags themselves are also ugly. The edges aren't smoothed out... they look like someone just cut them from a piece of sheet metal and called it a day.
So anyway, I got them this morning on my way to Starbucks (yesterday's mail), so while I was there, I started drafting a strongly-worded letter in my head, like what I was going to say to these people when I sent them back.
And then I saw it.
In tiny print on the bottom of the invoice it said, "Our handicapped employees appreciate your order."
So now I can't send them back. If I did I'd be a total asshole.
I'm just going to order new ones from someplace else. Any recommendations?

50 Cent Blasts His Label On Twitter

'I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don't get on the same page,' Fif tweets.By Rob Markman

50 Cent

Photo: Christopher Polk/ WireImage

On Thursday morning (June 16), 50 Cent took to Twitter, blasting Interscope Records and saying he wouldn't be releasing his Black Magic album this year unless he and his label can find some common ground.
"Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and sh-- feels like there moving in slow motion," he tweeted around 9 a.m. ET. "I'm sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don't get on the same page." Soon after, he fired off: "My whole career iv been doing sh-- and they have been playing catch up this is the last f---ing album THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND WORK."
A source close to 50 confirmed to MTV News that he is, in fact, tweeting from the account and it has not been hacked. On April 18, the Southside Jamaica, Queens, rapper tweeted that he was going to drop the album's lead single during that week, but never did. When MTV News caught up with him a few days later on the L.A. set of Nicole Scherzinger's "Right There" video, 50 backtracked, saying that instead, he opted to work with Interscope rather than independent of them.
"I tweeted something about the actual single," 50 Cent said. "While I'm out here, I got a meeting, I gotta sit with Jimmy [Iovine, chairman of Interscope/Geffen/A&M], I gotta sit with the guys that push the button. I've done it by myself on my other albums, 'cause I got my own radio staff. And I worked the record and get it to 500 spins and then let them kick in. But I think it's better to just go with the entire building, have everybody on deck so they understand my plans for this project."
Judging from Fif's tweets on Thursday, it's safe to assume that those meetings didn't go so well. "I worked really hard on this album I'm not gonna let it come out like some bullsh--. There use to me just putting it out," he continued to tweet before finally giving in to fans' tweets urging him to release new music. "Ok f--- it I'm putting the first song off my new album out tonight."

Beyonce Dons Her Diva Crown On 'American Idol' Finale

'Idol' finalists joined the pop diva for an all-girl medley of B smash hits.By Adam Graham

Who run the world? Girls!
The ladies of "American Idol" proved it during Wednesday's (May 25) season-closer when they performed a medley of Beyoncé hits, and were joined at the finish by Beyoncé herself.

The girls — Pia Toscano, Karen Rodriguez, Naima Adedapo, Ashthon Jones, Thia Megia and Haley Reinhart — hit the stage in various red-and-black ensembles and shared the stage during B's #1 smash "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." Adedapo opened the song and threw some sass on it before passing the mic to Jones, the season's 13th-place finisher, who was eliminated during the first week of semifinals competition. The girls took their turns with the vocals and aped the familiar moves from the single's iconic video, which one rapper sort-of semi-famously referred to once as one of the greatest music videos of all time.
Megia and the frequently bilingual Rodriguez took center stage and duetted on "Irreplaceable," another #1 hit for Beyoncé, while the rest of the group chimed in on the "you must not know 'bout me" chorus. That transitioned into "Get Me Bodied," with each singer working the stage with maximum 'tude. "If I Were a Boy" was next, with the contestants sitting down on the side of the stage and Reinhart tackling the chorus with her big, growly vocals. Jones was also allowed to flex her muscles on the song, and Toscano soon took center stage as the song segued into "Déjà Vu." Toscano, frequently criticized during her "Idol" run for only attempting big, old-fashioned ballads, came off well during the uptempo song.
But then the Queen B herself hit the riser at the top of the stairs and showed the ladies a thing or two about being a diva. The big horns from "Crazy in Love," her first solo hit, signaled her arrival, and she hit the stage with an abundance of style and authority. She danced in a long line with the "Idol" ladies (and a few backup dancers to boot) and ran through a verse of the song, strutting across the stage and whipping her hair like a true star. The performance ended with the "Idol" gals wrapping their arms around Beyoncé in a big group hug, and without even performing her new single, Beyoncé showed that girls run the world, or at least the "Idol" stage.
Later in the show, Beyoncé returned to debut her new song, "One Plus One." She introduced the dramatic piano-led ballad as her "favorite" song, and sang it on a sparse, smoke-filled stage, dropping to her knees at one point and shaking hands with the fans gathered in front of her.
What did you think of the Beyoncé medley? Let us know in the comments!
Don't miss a special edition of "Idol Party Live" Thursday at noon on MTV.com for analysis, finale red-carpet coverage and the last "Idol in 60 Seconds" of season 10. Get in the conversation by tweeting with the hashtag #idolparty! Los Angeles

I'm here! I'm here! And I saw my first gang-banger get arrested yesterday so I feel like a total Angeleno.

I'm getting ready to go to the gym (again, like a total Angeleno!) so I will update later about my run-ins with Alexander Skarsgard, Pauly Shore, and Jeremy or Jason London (I'm not sure which one it was and seeing if I could force him to do drugs to find out seemed unfair. Besides, as it turned out, he was telling the truth?)
Anyhoo, I've got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)
And bumpers! (They don't bump off anything... they go, "Scraaaaaaaatch!")
And there's probably more but, again, I have to go because I have to get to the gym!
